Pushkin Leningrad State University

Pushkin Leningrad State University was founded in 1992. In 1999 the University was named after Alexander Pushkin for great achievements in the field of education and upbringing of the youth. The structure of the educational institution includes, besides the Faculties, the College and branches in Boksitogorsk, Vyborg, Yekaterinburg, Moscow, Yaroslavl and other towns of Russia.

Today Pushkin LSU is one of the largest classical universities of Russia. It consists of 11 faculties, 12 branches and the College, which provide training on programmes of higher, postgraduate, secondary and extra education. There is Centre of Advanced Training and two Scientific Councils.

The material and technical basis of the University meets the international requirements and standards. The University infrastructure includes classrooms, experimental laboratories, as well as training and production facilities, hostels, etc. There are 37 computer labs in the University. The teaching staff have been developing new forms of information support of the educational process, including electronic textbooks, computer lab practical work and training simulators.

The University maintains partner relations with higher educational institutions of Germany, Finland, Poland, Italy, the USA, etc., inviting leading foreign scientists to lecture. The most successful students and post-graduates are granted the opportunity to have training at prestigious educational institutions of Europe and other foreign regions.

Special attention is paid to the all-round training of young people, including the additional educational programmes and various forms of extracurricular work. There are Masters of Sport of Russia, International Class, members of national teams of Russia, winners of European and World Championships among the University students. Students’ Office performs various youth actions: KVN (Club of the Funny and Inventive), Knowledge Day, First-Year Students Party, etc. At the University there are the children's camp “Gardarika” and the student search group “Rus-2”, which activities contribute to the patriotic education of the youth, to studies of the history of the Great Patriotic War.

The University is situated in the town of Pushkin, famous for its Palace and Park ensembles. Many well-known writers, poets, artists, scientists and politicians – for example, A.S. Pushkin, M.Yu. Lermontov, N.M. Karamzin, A.M. Gorchakov, A. Tolstoy, etc., – lived, studied and worked here. This creates the unique cultural atmosphere assisting the harmonious development of future specialists. Pushkin Leningrad State University invites domestic and foreign educational institutions, commercial entities, state enterprises and organizations for cooperation in the field of training and applying new forward-looking technologies in education.
